Scaled down, the Movado dial gets better rather than worse. A small silver circle with one dot at twelve and two fine hands is about as close as a watch gets to jewellery that happens to tell the time. \n Case and Wrist Presence \n A compact polished steel case with a thin bezel and slender curved lugs that step down neatly to a narrow strap. The whole thing is proportioned for a smaller wrist – the lugs sit inside the width of the wrist rather than reaching across it, and the case is thin enough to disappear under a sleeve. The crown is small and knurled, set flush against the case side. \n Dial and Legibility \n Silver with a sunray finish that throws a soft radial sheen from the centre outward. There are no markers, only the dished dot at twelve. The hands are polished steel, long and fine, tapering almost to a point. SWISS MOVADO QUARTZ is printed at the bottom in type small enough that you have to look for it. On a dial this size the emptiness is the design – you read the angle of the hands, not indices. \n Movement and Functions \n \n Swiss quartz – printed on the dial \n Hours and minutes – no date window and no seconds hand to break the surface \n \n Strap, Clasp and Fit \n A narrow black leather strap with a lizard grain, contrast stitching along the sides and a steel pin buckle. Narrow straps are more comfortable than wide ones on a slim wrist but they do wear through faster at the buckle hole you use most, so rotate between two holes if you can. The leather softens quickly and takes the curve of the wrist within a fortnight. \n Who This Watch Suits \n Someone with a slim wrist who finds most watches oversized, and who would rather wear something understated than something obviously expensive. It works with formal wear and with a plain shirt equally well. \n Care and Maintenance \n Keep it away from perfume and hand cream – both attack leather at the lugs, which is where straps usually fail. Wipe the case with a soft cloth. When the battery runs down, take it to a watchmaker; small cases have small casebacks, and forcing one open is how a scratched case and a broken gasket happen. \n About the Brand \n Movado is Swiss, and its dials are defined by what they leave out. The dot at twelve replaces every numeral on the dial, and the rest of the design is arranged around that one decision. \n Buying With Confidence \n A 24-month international manufacturer warranty covers the movement, excluding battery and normal wear. Ships new and unworn in its original box with the manufacturer’s paperwork, delivered nationwide with tracking, and returnable unworn in its original packaging under the Consumer Protection Act. The hands are unfilled steel – in low light they show as thin bright lines and nothing else.
