Cream dial, black registers, black punched leather. It is the reverse-panda layout done in a warmer shade than white, and the perforated strap gives it a racing accent the dial does not otherwise claim. Case and Wrist Presence Polished stainless steel, round, with a thin bezel and lugs that curve down and taper into the strap. Two cylindrical pushers sit above and below a fluted crown on the right flank. The caseband is plain, the profile low. Steel around a cream dial is a softer look than steel around white – the case reads as a frame rather than as a bright ring. Dial and Legibility Warm cream with applied steel markers, a broad triangle at twelve and tapered batons elsewhere, and a fine minute track printed at the edge with a blue inner line. MOVADO sits in black above centre, calendoplan in blue italic beneath it. The chronograph registers are dark grey-black with white printing: sixty minutes at three, thirty at six. The weekday arc runs SUN through SAT across the left with a slim pointer, and a framed date window sits at four thirty. The blue chronograph seconds hand runs the full width of the dial and is impossible to confuse with anything else on it. Movement and Functions Top pusher starts and stops the timing, bottom pusher zeroes it. The blue hand sweeps the seconds; the sub-registers hold the minutes as they accumulate. Day and date are adjusted from the crown. Because every indication has its own patch of dial, nothing has to be interpreted twice. Strap and Fit Black leather punched with rows of holes and finished with a soft nap, tapering to a pin buckle. Perforation came from racing straps, where it cut weight and let air through, and it still does both. The holes do collect dust, so a dry brush every so often keeps the strap looking sharp. Leather softens quickly; check the fit again after a fortnight. Who This Watch Suits Someone who wants the vintage chronograph look without a brown strap. The cream dial dates it; the black rally strap keeps it from looking precious. Care and Maintenance Do not use the pushers while the watch is wet. Wipe polished steel with a soft cloth, not a compound. Keep the strap dry – wet leather dries stiff and cracks at the fold, and a perforated strap has more folds to crack. Have a watchmaker replace the battery and reseat the gasket. About the Brand The Calendoplan name is Movado’s, taken from its calendar watches, and the weekday arc is the reason it applies here.
