Daniel Wellington Classic Warwick DW00100005: A Rose Gold Classic on Striped Textile
The Daniel Wellington Classic Warwick DW00100005 is a 40 mm round quartz watch with a rose gold case, a white dial and a striped multicolour nylon strap. It comes from the first generation of Classic watches, launched in the spring and summer of 2013, and it has the same slim, uncluttered look that the series is known for. This listing covers what can be confirmed about the Warwick; where a detail such as the exact stripe order of the strap is not published, it is left out rather than guessed.
Its 40 mm diameter puts it in the unisex band under our sizing rule, even though some retailers categorise the family as men’s.
Case
The case is round, 40 mm in diameter and 6 mm thick, in steel with a rose gold colour. The back is a snap-on steel plate, and a pull crown is fitted on the right. The crystal is mineral glass. At 6 mm the case is slender enough to wear with fine knitwear or a fitted sleeve, and the finish stays consistent from the case sides to the bezel.
- 40 mm round case – an easy mid-size that suits a wide range of wrists
- 6 mm thick – sits close to the wrist
- Rose gold colour – the same tone is repeated on the hands and buckle
Dial
The dial is white and analogue, showing hours and minutes with two rose gold hands. It is a simple face with no date and no sub-dials, so everything on it is functional and easy to read. The matching hand colour gives it a slightly softer contrast than black hands would, which is part of the Classic character.
Movement
The watch carries a quartz movement, listed on the spec sheet as part number GL20, a Miyota calibre also used across the early Classic range. Quartz brings stable timekeeping and very little maintenance. The movement is not Swiss made, and the watch does not claim to be.
Strap and Buckle
The textile strap is described as nylon, in a multicolour stripe, and is 20 mm wide, the same as the lug width. It is fixed with push pins and closes with a rose gold buckle. The suitable wrist size is listed as roughly 160 to 210 mm, so there is plenty of adjustment for both slim and larger wrists. Because the band is woven nylon rather than leather, it is light, dries fast and tolerates warm weather. Like the other Classic watches, the strap can be exchanged for another 20 mm band.
- Woven nylon – light and quick to dry
- 20 mm width – compatible with other bands of the same size
- Rose gold buckle – keeps the metal finish consistent
Water Resistance
The rating is 3 bar, which the spec describes as suitable for washing hands. In everyday terms, rain and splashes are fine, but swimming, bathing and showering are not. Keep the crown pushed in at all times.
About Warwick and the Classic Range
Warwick is named after the English market town, as are its siblings Oxford, Cambridge, Glasgow, St Mawes and Sheffield. Daniel Wellington was founded in Sweden in 2011, and these watches helped introduce its minimalist formula of a thin case, a plain dial and a swappable strap. The Warwick is now a historical reference rather than a current one.
Who It Suits
- Collectors of early Classic references – the 2013 generation
- People who like a quiet dial – two hands and nothing else
- Smaller and larger wrists – adjustable fit up to 210 mm
Care
Wipe the case with a dry cloth, wash the strap in mild soapy water if needed, and let it dry naturally. Avoid soaking the watch and keep it away from heat and strong perfume. A watchmaker should replace the battery so the case back is refitted securely.
