Daniel Wellington Classic Glasgow DW00100018: Silver and White with a Blue Strap
The Daniel Wellington Classic Glasgow DW00100018 is a 40 mm quartz watch with a silver-coloured stainless steel case, a white dial and a blue nylon NATO-style strap. It is a calm, three-colour design: steel, white and blue, with nothing printed on the face beyond the hour markers and the brand name. The Glasgow name was used for the Classic models fitted with this blue band, and the silver version here is the cooler counterpart of the rose gold Glasgow.
This reference is from the 2017 range and retailers now list it as no longer in production, so it is mainly of interest to buyers who want exactly this combination.
Case and Wrist Presence
The round case is stainless steel in a silver finish, 40 mm wide and about 6 mm high. That is thin by modern standards and it shows when the watch is worn: the head sits flat, and the crown at three o’clock is small enough not to dig into the back of the hand. The bezel is fixed and slim. The snap-on case back is also stainless steel. At 40 mm the watch suits wrists of most sizes, and under our sizing rule it is classed as unisex.
- Silver stainless steel – a bright, neutral metal tone
- 6 mm profile – slides under shirt cuffs easily
- Mineral crystal – a hardened glass cover over the dial
Dial Layout
The dial is plain white. Thin hour markers sit around the edge, and the Daniel Wellington name is printed below twelve. Silver hands show hours and minutes, with a slender seconds hand sweeping behind them. There is no date, no day and no sub-dial, so the reading is immediate: look down and the time is the only thing there. The blue of the strap is the sole bright colour in the design and it frames the white face when viewed from above.
- Time only – hours, minutes and a sweeping seconds hand
- Silver hands – the same tone as the case
- Uncluttered white face – easy to read in indoor and outdoor light
Movement
Retailer data lists a Miyota GL20 quartz movement powered by a Renata 364 battery with a stated life of around 60 months. Quartz keeps accurate time without winding, and there is no rotor or mainspring to maintain. The crown pulls out to set the time and pushes back in to secure it.
Strap and Fit
The blue strap is woven nylon in the NATO style, 20 mm wide, with a silver buckle. It is fitted with pushpins and a straight mount, and the listed fit is for wrists between 160 and 210 mm. Because nylon is light and absorbs little water, it is a good choice for warm days. If you want a dressier look, any 20 mm strap will fit, so a black or brown leather band changes the character of the watch without touching the case.
Water Resistance in Practice
The Glasgow is rated 3 ATM, or 30 metres, which the maker describes as suitable for hand washing. Treat it as splash proof: no swimming, no showering, and no hot water or steam.
Who This Watch Suits
- Wearers who like a nautical blue and white look without a sporty case
- Anyone who wants a thin, light watch for the office or campus
- People who prefer a silver case to rose gold
- Strap swappers who want a neutral base with a colour accent
Care and Maintenance
Wipe the steel with a soft cloth and clean the nylon band with mild soap and water, drying it naturally. Keep the watch away from heavy knocks, solvents and strong magnets. Let a watchmaker replace the battery so the case seal can be tested.
