Daniel Wellington Classic Canterbury DW00100030: Rose Gold with a Five-Stripe NATO Strap
The Daniel Wellington Classic Canterbury DW00100030 is a 36 mm women’s quartz watch with a rose gold stainless steel case, an eggshell white dial and a five-stripe NATO-style strap in blue, red and white. Of the Classic fabric-strap watches, the Canterbury is the one with the busiest strap, and that is its main feature: the case and dial are restrained, and all the colour is in the band.
Case and Wrist Presence
The case is round, 36 mm across and 6 mm thick, in 316L stainless steel with a double layer of rose gold plating. A fixed bezel keeps the outline plain, and a small crown on the right is used to set the time. At this size the watch sits comfortably on slim and medium wrists and does not overhang. It weighs very little, which is part of why fabric-strap Classics are popular for warm weather and long days.
- 36 mm case – a compact size that falls in the women’s band
- 316L stainless steel – a corrosion-resistant steel used widely in watchmaking
- Double rose gold plating – a warm pink-gold tone
- Mineral crystal – scratch-resistant glass over the dial
Eggshell White Dial
The dial is a soft eggshell white with slim silver-coloured hands. It has no date, no sub-dial and no seconds hand to clutter it; the brand name is the only printed detail. Reading the time takes no effort, and the pale face lets the rose gold case and the bright strap do the work.
Movement
Inside is a Japanese quartz movement. A battery powers it, so the watch needs no winding and keeps steady time. It shows hours and minutes. Replacing the battery is the only regular service, and it is routine for any watchmaker.
Five-Stripe NATO-Style Strap
The strap is woven polyester fabric in a NATO style, 18 mm wide. It passes behind the case and under the spring bars, so even if a spring bar fails the watch is held by the strap. The stripe pattern is five bands of blue, red and white, in the same palette as the classic nautical and military straps that inspired the design. The strap is interchangeable, so you can swap it for any 18 mm band, which is one of the main attractions of the Classic range.
- Woven fabric – comfortable against the skin and quick to dry
- Five stripes – blue, red and white, the pattern that distinguishes the Canterbury
- 18 mm width – a standard size with many alternatives available
Water Resistance
One retailer lists 30 metres in its feature summary and 3 ATM in its specifications, which agree, since 3 ATM equals 30 metres. In practical terms that is splash and rain resistance. Do not swim or shower in it. A fabric strap forgives some dampness, but rinse and dry it if it gets wet to avoid staining.
Who It Suits
- Women who like a pop of colour – the strap carries the personality while the case stays neutral
- Summer and holiday wear – light, dries quickly, nothing to tarnish
- Anyone who changes straps often – 18 mm, no tools needed
- Daniel Wellington collectors – the five-stripe Canterbury is one of the recognisable NATO references
Care Notes
Wipe the case and crystal with a soft cloth. Wash the strap by hand in lukewarm water and leave it to dry completely. Keep rose gold plating away from abrasive cleaners and chlorine. If the battery is replaced, have the seal checked to keep the 3 ATM rating intact.
About Daniel Wellington
Daniel Wellington started in Sweden in 2011 with founder Filip Tysander and a small set of slim, strap-led watches. The Canterbury is part of that original idea: a clean case that is easy to restyle by changing the band.
