Case and Wrist Presence Forty-six millimetres of polished steel, with a black insert set into the bezel and pushers flanking a guarded crown. On a bracelet the weight is carried across the whole wrist instead of hanging from the lugs, so this version actually feels more settled than the strap versions do, even though it is heavier. It still needs a wrist of 18cm or so to look right. Dial and Legibility Black with a fine raised grid, bordered by a printed minute track on a sloped flange. The applied batons are silver, the hands are broad and polished, and the twelve marker is doubled. Register scales are printed in white. The dial is protected by a mineral crystal, which is harder than acrylic and takes daily knocks without marking, though a sharp scratch will show. Functions A 24-hour register at nine, a day-of-the-week register at three and a pointer date at six, each read by its own small hand. There are no cut-out windows, so the texture across the dial is unbroken and the three registers stay visually equal. Bracelet and Fit Flat three-row links, brushed on the outer rows and polished in the centre, tapering a little towards the clasp. It sizes by removing links, and it is worth having that done accurately rather than approximately: a bracelet one link too long lets a heavy case slide to the side of your wrist all day. Who This Watch Suits A larger wrist and someone who prefers a full metal watch. It is the most straightforward version of this design, and the one that will look the same in five years. Care and Maintenance Rinse the bracelet occasionally and brush the link joints where grime settles. The polished centre links will collect fine scratches; that is normal and can be refinished. Have the case pressure-tested after a battery change.
