Case and Wrist Presence 44mm across, which is a genuinely large watch and needs a wrist to match; on anything under about 18cm the lugs will start to overhang. The bezel is thin and polished, the lugs are short and angled down hard, and pushers flank a knurled crown at three. Short lugs are what make 44mm wearable at all. Dial and Legibility Black with a fine radial texture. Applied silver batons mark most hours with Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9, and the hands are silver with pale infill. Silver on black is the clearest combination on any dial, and at 44mm the markers are large enough to read across a room. Functions Three registers grouped through the middle of the dial: day of the week on the left, a second indicator on the right, and a lower counter below the centre. The registers are lighter than the dial around them, which is what stops a black dial with three cut-outs from turning into a mess. Water Resistance The dial is marked 5 ATM. That is enough for rain and hand washing, and not enough for swimming or a shower. The leather strap will object to water long before the case does, so treat the rating as a safety margin rather than a permission. Strap, Clasp and Fit Black leather with a crocodile emboss and a pin buckle. Black is the more formal of the two croc options and asks for black shoes; it also shows scuffs more readily than brown, though the grain helps. Leather takes a set at the buckle hole you use most, so keep to one or two.
